Greetings from the President

Welcome to the Japanese Headache Society.

The Japanese Headache Society was founded in 1997 by members of “the headache study group in Japan”. The Society was registered as a corporation officially in November, 2009. Our mission is to improve headache medicine and headache care in Japan to enable people to enjoy good health by preventing and treating headache disorders. The Japanese Headache Society is independent of any academic, political or commercial prejudice.

The Society’s activity includes annual scientific congress, publication of the scientific journal, clinical guidelines and the Japanese version of the International Headache Society’s Classification of Headache Disorders. Education for physicians, co-medical staff and people is an important mission of the Society for better understanding of the burden of headache. The board accredited headache specialists are playing an important role in creating a good medical care system for headache patients in Japan. Patients are gradually increasing their awareness of headache as a disease and the necessity for proper treatment.

The Japanese Headache Society now has a history of about 20 years. Members of the Society are steadily increasing their activity in basic and clinical research of headache. We will further strive for its mission to pursue better headache medicine and headache care.
As a member of the Advisory Council in the International Headache Society, the Japanese Headache Society plays a role not only within Japan but also over the world.
